Weirdly I was convinced I’d already reviewed this game. I’ve had it for a loooong time – I think since it was in early access. I adore this game, I love the fact it’s continuously being updated – the dlc’s are all worth it. It’s fairly relaxing and once you get the hang of it you can build some truly beautiful homes. It’s also well supported, a while ago there was a bug where your dwarves would just get lost and say they couldn’t get to where they are trying to get too – they fixed that fairly swiftly. It also has mod support and multiplayer, neither of which I’ve played with but worth noting.
This is the best game I have ever played. My life was meaningless, pointless, hopeless. Then I played this game. This once in a lifetime opportunity to turn it all around. Hope, Joy, Whimsy. It all came flooding into me the moment I first played this game. Life just isn’t the same without without this game. It all happened so fast. My mother’s cancer? Cured the moment I played the game. Dead dog? I don’t think so. Any human to have lived before the release of this game didn’t really live. I did. I had the opportunity of living. Because I played this game, and you should too.
Years ago the game was MUCH better, I’m talking multiple times better. The introduction of a specific stupid monster that cannot be defended has diminished the whole value of the game for me. Still, there are a lot of great ideas that have always been there in the game and I would recommend it to everyone. Even at 10% of it’s original value, it’s playable at a low difficulty.
