AI – Friendly AI is pretty stupid sometimes and won’t shoot at enemies. Enemy AI by default spawn 6 at a time, and sometimes will spawn in your face/appear out of thin air. Overall AI behavior is not bad. They will throw grenades at you, suppress you, and try to flank you (they will cheat with flanking too as they will know exactly which direction you’re pointing if you’re not in their vision and they’ll go from a different angle). However, smoke grenades can be abused vs. AI like in Raven Shield (the other RS title I’ve played) in combination with thermal vision. Gameplay – What makes this game pretty unique among shooters is the cover mechanic/alternate POVs. By default you press right-click on your mouse when you’re near cover and your character will hug the cover/take cover and your POV will change from first-person to third-person (which allows you to see more of your surroundings). So the gameplay is mostly waiting for lulls in gunfire and pop out of cover to shoot somebody then go back into cover. Otherwise, the gameplay is pretty much like standard shooters with a run-and-gun kind of style instead of a focus on being sneaky and on tactics like in older RS titles.
Loadout/customization – Very good. You can pick 2 primary weapons, 2 utility items (e.g. grenades), and you always have a pistol, and there’s a good number of weapons in each class of weapons so there’s good variety. A lot of armor/clothing options as well. Multiplayer – Unfortunately multiplayer is no longer officially supported, so this hurts this game heavily in replayability. I’m sure there’s ways to play multiplayer if you’re willing to jump through some hoops though.
Overall, the game is quite polished and fun. Good for a few hours of mindless shooty action. I have ~50 hours on Steam, and also played this for a few hundred hours many years ago, and overall I recommend this game. If you decide to play it, I recommend playing with mods. There is a guide/modpack by PkmnYellow which includes overhaul mods (for gunplay and enemy AI spawns) by ParsleyPlant and azlakal, as well as other possibly useful mods.
