Jonas Manke, solo developer and father of 3, began work on Omno as a hobby project 5 years ago after working as an animator in both games and movies. beautiful and introspective game, fairly intuitive and just challenging enough for someone who doesn’t play platformers very much. the story is intriguing, the music is great and atmospheric, the movement mechanics are really fun and fluid. i also love our lil companion and i need a plushie of them immediately. the creatures are a mix of adorable and horrendous abominations (in a good way), and i love how you can interact with them. i almost 100%’d it as i went, just a couple puzzles i couldn’t figure out, but i will go back and try to complete them all. As a kickstarter backer I was pretty excited for this game to come out. Once it came out it took me a few years to get around to beating though, as I didn’t feel particularly compelled to progress. The most exciting parts of the game take some time to get to and are often fleeting. A lot of the promo material shows off wondrous moments of flying/snowboarding/windsurfing etc. but in practice its only like 20% of the game.
