All puzzles are single-screen affairs, so you can see all relevant info from the start. There’s a robust undo feature, and you can even undo past a level reset. Each of the six worlds introduces a new mechanic to keep things fresh. If you get stuck, level progression is mostly nonlinear, i.e. you usually (but not always) have access to multiple puzzles to proceed with. And there’s even a hints system which can optionally give you some (occasionally cryptic) hints for how to solve a level.

In terms of UI, the game can be controlled with keyboard, controller, and mouse. I personally found the keyboard controls slightly clunky, but really enjoyed the mouse controls; your mileage may vary. In any case, I appreciated having multiple options. Finding a control scheme you’re most comfortable with will also make the real-time Arcade world easier and more enjoyable to solve. Robot Detour is the type of puzzle game that reminds me why puzzle games so often drive innovative game design. Here are several novel mechanics for the player to explore, which are then mastered through well thought and and progressively more challenging puzzles. Each new mechanic provides a great “aha” moment, as well as enough to remain satisfying.
