I’m not a fan of horror games, but I do like being a little creeped out. “Inside” was one of the first indie games I ever played, and it made me feel…weird. Games like that, and now The Plane Effect, I put in the horror adjacent genre, because while you’re not actively running from a serial killer or trying to survive a night in a haunted mansion, there is a special kind of spook factor that comes from cautiously exploring the bleak and lonely environments, and that feeling that someone is always watching you.
The Plane Effect Pre-Installed:
I have not yet finished the game, I’m about 3 hours in, but I wanted to give a quick review of the game so far, and my first impressions. The story here starts with a montage of our main man, who smiles way more than any person should, to the point where I started to wonder if he is the serial killer. But, despite being the happiest man alive, his life takes a dark turn when he picks up a seemingly harmless paper airplane. He is now all alone in his office, looking for photographs, clues, and objects that he can use to find his way out of the locked building. And the game progresses in that manner for the rest of the time.
