Phantom Forces offers a unique take on turn based mech combat. The engine itself got most of the love, as the story is very “placeholder-y”. It has a kill -> loot -> upgrade loop that’s competent and addicting, but if you take your time finishing the campaign it can wear out its welcome. If you haven’t played Front Misson 3 yet, you should probably play that first tbh, (the story is excellent) but if you are hungry for mech tactics, you could do worse. I recommend the game but not at full price.Its certainly got a good mechanic but I couldn’t be bothered to stay in the game for 365 in-game days. I’m only 25 in-game days in and it feels like I’ve seen everything.
Maybe wait till some fixes are out for melee weapons and stories? or use mods. I have played a lot of this game and from a less than refutable method (Arrrr~ mateys!). But let’s just say that I love the game and wish to support the devs. I’m not gonna explain gameplay since this game is so good a youtube video would be better and typing it in words will do a disservice to how great the gameplay is. HOWEVER The circumstance surrounding additional development/update is just really shaky.
