Gods Basement, a walking sim type of horror, is a test to anyone’s patient. The game has a strong beginning, its mysterious and could be quite creepy, wasn’t for the amount of trigger events you are forced to look for and the amount of real life time the game asks you to wait, in order to advance. This makes it a sluggish, bland, and honestly boring game that I couldn’t recommend to anyone. I’m being harsh, but after 30 minutes of wandering, only to understand that I had to look at a specific door, in a specific angle, in order for the game to decide I could move on, I think I can be excused for being a bit salty.
This game is a sterling example of something that has potential... but didn’t quite hit the mark. While the makings of a truly amazing and memorable horror game are in there, they get over shadowed by obtuse puzzles that either are too vague, or have no indication of how to solve them at all, and leave you with no other option but to wait for the game to basically tell you what to do…..
Even then the game will be too vague sometimes to be of any help in continuing forward, and practically force you to pull up a game FAQ just so you know how to advance the story.
