This version is certainly and improvement over the previous MV engine. It also comes with plugins that allow for the creation of Action RPGs which was long overdue. The manner in which the database is structured is a positive change. One of the bigger positives is the event list on the map screen. it’s very useful. If there is to be another RPG Maker engine then hopefully the action RPG plugins will be built into the engine, but also animations cells for the actors that allow for that action and not just us having to rely only on effect animations. in essence, action RPG battlers for the action sequences for an A-RPG would very much be welcomed. On thing I would complain about, but I’m not sure if it’s something worth it would be allowing more colors in the skin tone department and clothing, but it’s very possible to just add our own and it’s simple.
Anyway, one thing that’s very needed is more outfits and hair styles for guys. I love myself a good heroin, but the heroes could do with some more content in the hair, facial hair, & eyes department. Speaking of, more matching eye sets would be welcomed for both. I know of two that have matching shapes and angles to them, but many are solo. Anyway, Autosave if a huge positive. One big thing I’d suggest being added is a built in event chaser, runner, and player search event, all based around view and sight range where they will avoid obstacles on their own if the distance around it isn’t too great and allow for players to control that aspect.
Though overall it’s a huge welcomed addition and RPG Maker MV’s assets can be placed in the character gen, it just takes a bunch of time renaming things, but the bodies are the same, though the head is smaller. So MZ’s assets won’t just simply fit depending on which items are used and vice versa, hence my statements above. DLC can cover many short-comings, but it would be nice to add simple movement to enemies in battle such as a breathing mechanic where they grow and stretch a bit and a flying/floating one where they bob, sway, or both. heck, let’s add a rocking one.
