CLICKOLDING is a dark incremental narrative game about thumbing a tally counter to satisfy the distressing masked man sitting in the corner of your hotel room. If you leave, you don’t get the money, and you can’t come back. If you stay… I have known this man, this sad person who has loved and lost and fears he will never love again, who has watched his once cherished life, skills honed to peak performance, brought down by the cruel machinations of time. I have seen him over and over in my life, reaching out for a mere taste of the past, a glimmer of the hope that once was could be again, from the reflection in the mirror. A fantastic narrative piece of art that delves deeply into the nature of sexwork, kink, paraphilia, and the amount of emotional labor involved in the field. Features absolutely no actual sex or nudity while being the most accurate depiction of sexwork I’ve ever experienced in a piece of media.

Those few stumbles aside, we had an excellent time cooperating on this one, and while some tricky puzzles did take us a while, we managed to clear every case without using the built-in hint system. We never felt we had to make logical leaps to figure things out, though it was sometimes necessary to reinterpret the clues in new ways when we missed the mark Fun little game, The puzzles were satisfying to solve and some quite challenging, but the story was the part that kept me going, it was really fun to uncover what happens next. Although, paying the full price for it, you may or may not feel a little bit dissapointed that the game is just what it is, because it’s probably not the most impressive or action packed game out there.
