This is a story to get a happy future from the unexplored land. This game is pretty fun to play, personally I think it is better and also easier to get Achievements if you have more than 1 player. I would recommend starting on Drizzle and working your way up. If you are even somewhat of an achievement hunter like me, I would focus on getting one Achievement at a time, preferably ones that are simple. As you get these Achievements you will unlock Gear that you will receive when you open a chest, and if you accomplish a feat for a character you will also unlock an alternate ability for that character. There are also other characters to unlock.

Phoenix Point seems to want to be a bridge between the old and the new, but it leans heavily on the old, while not quite adopting some of what would have been better from the newer style. What you end up with is kind of a jack-of-all-trades but master-of-none kind of feel. You have a ton of choices, but often not the ones you want. You have a lot of customization and yet, still feels limited. It’s a recurring issue, the game is good, but always feels like it could have been better. Graphics & sound are adequate but mostly generic, enemies functionally have a lot of variety but are all carved from the same niche of styles, compared to Xcom which had larger visual variety. Customization of your own troops exists, but it’s nothing like the range of the reboots Xcom 2 suite of tools.
