One of the most fun and original puzzle games I have played in a long time. As a mafia hitman it’s your job to eliminate all human targets on the screen using a limited supply of bullets. One has to try and kill said targets by ricocheting bullets off various surfaces in order to directly kill as many targets as possible or by setting off objects such as explosive barrels, mines, bowlingballs, crates etc. that will then go about doing their nasty business. The game comes with 100 puzzles that start of really simple but get increasinlgy more difficult if you’re a completionist like me and want to try and get a full 3-star rating on every assignment (as long as you kill every target you will automatically move on to the next puzzle regardless of how many stars you earn). The sound effects are fine, the music is a bit repetitive but soothing and graphically it’s simple but fits the theme perfectly. Yet it’s the gameplay where it’s truly at: For the price this game is extremely good value for money. Time and time again I find myself going back to a puzzle I haven’t done perfectly yet just to get the 3-star maximum score.
That said, I still do not recommend the game unless you’re a hardcore fan of puzzle games like this that require many repetitions with rote memorization in order to succeed. Hard gameplay is one thing, but unless you’re prepared to sit in front of your computer screen with ruler and protractor, you’re going to simply be guessing at each move at first, an then learning which shots to take. The right mouse button let’s you place little markers to keep track of these, but even with that, it’s simply not fun.
On top of that, once you get stuck on a level, your only option for gameplay at that point is to either persist or to repeat a previous level to try to better your score. That limitation, coupled with the singular gameplay mechanism of aiming/calculating, means most will lose interest very quickly. That’s not to say this game, or any successor which may in the works is without hope though. I’m only bothering to write this because I think there is potential here and because I still liked it well enough to comment on it. Some ideas that come to mind for improvement include:
