So, I quickly got hooked by this game upon purchase. I genuinely enjoy this game and i bought it at price. Very much medieval Rimworld but in my opinion does things a bit better (not everything though!), and makes the game refreshing and exciting. Building your log hut up to a impending fortress feels like a real accomplishment, and something you’ve actually worked towards not something simply handed. The minor complaints would be the limited crafting menu and options, there’s quite a bit and I’m sure more will be added, however right now it feels small.
There is also something to be said for the AI, they are very easily distracted by the 4 pyres I’ve built in the corners of the map rather than getting at where my good stuff is. The only other thing would be the trebuchets in the game. You can lose quite a bit to their random fire. I’ve the only real counter to them is to leave your walls to go confront their force, it would be nice if the player was able to build them as well to give fire back. The research system is genius as the game requires to have your settlers create tomes which have to be stored in your settlement’s library. Each item researched requires X amount of books to fulfill the research requirement. If you lose the books or they are destroyed you have to re-meet the researches‘ book requirement to be able to continue to use that unlocked research.
This game ticks all my boxes. The pacing and complexity of the layers of the game can really get you engrossed. Again, some people wil not like the graphics, but this is part of the charm. Once you think you have everything under control the game will throw a spanner in the works. Also, this game has so much replayability. Even using the same seed and same setup the game will cause different events. I can see myself spending heaps of hours into this. The developers have an awesome roadmap, so this game will continue to amaze.
