This is my first Atelier game and and I was surprised by what he had to offer.I think i spend around 15-20 hrs on Ryza Atelier to craft perfect gear for her and party members + consumable. In this game you explore a lot and discover new abilities and much more. <3
– the story is complex with a lot of characters.
– each dungeon have awesome songs and design + every boss fight gave me a vibe to play the game over and over again.
– the story ending its quite sad and i want Ryza 3 to continue her journeys.
– awesome songs , soundtrucks which i do not stop from listening them.

Starting with a disclaimer: I’ve played most Atelier games in the franchise and love them all (except you, Lydie & Suelle). Now, Ryza 2 isn’t a bad game at all. But if someone asked me, “Which Atelier game should I play?” I would never suggest Ryza 2. Even if that person described their preference for exactly Ryza 2’s sort of gameplay, I would simply refer them to Ryza 1. That’s how similar they are. But Ryza 1 had a better plot.
The biggest mistake in this game is the repetitiveness. From the get-go you are told that the plot will require you to investigate 5 sets of ruins. That’s exactly what you do: go to ruins, get a cutscene, complete a very long-winded collectathon for glowing orbs, get a recipe out of it, go home, make it, go back to those ruins, get another cutscene, you’re done. Next set of ruins. Rinse and repeat until the game ends.
Now, if you actually pay attention to the immense amount of lore written into those collectathon orbs, you’ll find that there’s tons of interesting, potential plot points! But, tragically, it’s entirely irrelevant to the game. Characters never mention it. There’s an entire history of a lost civilization written into the game, but the plot moves along as though all we know is that these ruins are old. We COULD have had a plot where we learn about the past and pick up where our ancestors left us.
The crafting system was also really weak compared to other games in the franchise (except Ryza 1, which has the same exact system). You can’t combine traits, and the traits we do have are really boring. The best ones just sort of boost your stats. Compare that to, say, Atelier Firis, where if I tried hard enough, I could create a set of items that effectively gives me infinite turns. I miss doing weird sh** like that. It’s also boringly easy to get 999 item quality. In other Atelier games, that was something to be proud of.
Lastly, the fanservice was a little over-the-top. Atelier isn’t known for its modesty, per se, but this time, every woman minus the 13-year-old had crazy proportions and clothes to show them off. This is a minor complaint. I know that Koei Techmo is just capitalizing on the hype over Ryza’s body from the first Ryza game. but does detract from the immersion when I have to keep wondering, “Is the point of this scene what’s in the dialogue here, or am I really just supposed to be showered in boobs?”
