Right, I got this game because it was £2 on sale. Did I get my moneys worth? Yes, but I don’t think everyone will. After the Hospital area, the absolute jank stops being funny and starts being annoying. Like when you get the the area that looked like Xen from HL1, you’ll realise that the games quicksave slots are actually saving your last checkpoint up to 15 minutes ago. So if you fall off, see ya chump. Or when you realise you have to shoot every fire thing to open a door, and theres no minimap aside from radar.
Gameplay is painfully boring, with no tension of survival horror, and none of the open spaces for Serious Sam style herding. Game is unoptimised as all hell, no FOV slider. Voice acting and design are delightfully bad, in a good way. TLDR: Watch a playthrough online. This is an hour of fun, then it stops being funny. Its nice to look at screenshots and say “that looks terrible haha” but its much less fun to actually play it with its constant framedrops and repetitive and confusing gameplay. Only for diehard jank appreciators/masochists. Play something from your backlog instead.
There’s a lot of stuff to shoot, blow up, kick and shoot some more in this game! At first it starts with creepy possessed orphans (?) and then it spirals down from there. Increasingly bizarre hordes run at you like crazy and you just shoot’em up Duke Nukem style. It’s an old-school, all you can eat buffet of funny, gory, disgusting, frustrating and gun blazing moments.
