Re-Volt lets you guide one of 28 remote control cars through insane race tracks set in unusual environments.

Since the cars are the size of real remote control vehicles, objects found around the track are bigger than life. Curbs become huge walls, toys are obstacles, and everything is fair game to drive on, through, or over. There are 13 different tracks spread throughout four Cups, including races set in museums, supermarkets, and settings which may look like your own neighborhood. Keep in mind these are RC cars. If you’re expecting handling like Mario Kart or even Rocket League you’ll be disappointed. These cars are tiny and tend to flip over easy like real RC cars. Keep that in mind and you’ll have a blast.

Encounters at ports and other locations throughout the game take the form of narrative events where you are given a description of events and choose your response from a variety of choices where success is largely determined by your captain’s attributes, Hearts, Iron, Veils, and Mirrors.

Choices can also be influenced by the Officers you’ve recruited, your affiliations with the various factions, the capabilities of your Locomotive, even the cargo you’re carrying. The graphics and sound for this game are absolutely amazing. Despite the limitations of the top-down perspective, the graphics manage to convey a real sense of depth as you fly through the skies. The art style is extremely well-done, everything has a hand-painted feel to it, from the beautiful animated backgrounds while flying your train to the pictures of the people and places you encounter during your travels.
