I also noticed that at the beginning of runs, I would often orient myself towards the first spawner’s spawning sound and find it perfectly centered on my screen, before I could see it. In most games, directional audio is simulated by lowering the volume in one ear and increasing it in another. This is NOT how people discern direction. How it actually works is that since the speed of sound is not infinite, any sound will reach one ear before it reaches the other. The difference is imperceptible, but the brain can still detect it and use it in trigonometric calculations. I think these developers did some research. This is a level of aural insight that even the devs of The Vale, a game designed for the vision-impaired and consequently a game entirely dependent on directional audio, did not grasp.
