Saurian is a dinosaur survival experience set in Hell Creek 66 million years ago. Players will take control of several extinct species in their natural environment and attempt to survive from hatchling to adult. Staying alive means managing physical needs while avoiding predators and natural hazards in an open world landscape reflecting up-to-date scientific knowledge of the Hell Creek ecosystem. Survival: Start as a hatchling; eat, drink, and grow to an adult while avoiding predators and hazards. Open World: Explore the diverse environments of Hell Creek with accurate flora of that time and location. AI Ecosystem: The animals around you have the same needs as you do and will interact with you based on them. Scientific Accuracy:

Every animal and plant has been rigorously researched to be accurate to currently accepted knowledge. One thing I find pretty pleasant about this game is the environment. The assortment of trees and ferns, the colors, the day and night lighting, as well as the various AI scattered about really make the atmosphere immersive and realistic. The music is also unique, original and enjoyable, somewhat reminiscent of Minecraft. The tense instrumentals during night instill a general sense of unease on your first few nights. Then in the morning, you’re greeted with more pleasant music, celebrating the dawn of a new day.

Two things about the environement, however. The map is pretty, but the graphics are sub-par, unless you have them on the maximum setting. In addition to that, every time I turn the camera to see behind me and then try to get back on course, it causes the game to freeze up and lag for several seconds, and doesn’t let up even after the game has been running a while. This, as you could imagine, leads to issues. I have a fairly high end gaming computer, and even with that I had these issues Moving on though, I’ll talk about the dinosaurs themselves a bit. There are currently two playables; Dakotaraptor and Triceratops. You are given the options to name your dinosaurs, choose their gender, and adjust the difficulty, day and night settings all before starting a new game. You also can have multiple saves, so you could try every combination you want, and not have to delete a character.
