Skill advancement and monster recruitment and development are all very solid. There just isn’t anything else. Nothing beyond the barest of minimum stories, level design, and interactions. This is like playing Persona only for the randomized dungeons.

this game is a masterpiece. i do understand why people don’t enjoy it as much as i did and found it to have a weak story. in general, a big appeal of the smt series is that you can play the game and choose choices based on what you, the player believe in. in this way, you can find and reflect on your own personal philosophy. the problem is that most people just go for the true demon ending since it has the most content.
