Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 defines mediocrity. In a game like this you want to have options, a little like a sandbox if you will. The game, however, is very scripted. You have almost always one way to tackle the missions. Shoot the guy who is the furthest away and slowly take the enemies down till the last man who is the closest. Except for few moments, there is no challenge either as long as you keep it low profile.

That kind of linearity can be advantageous since it can help developers focus on story and presentation. Think about CoD campaigns (the good ones). They are linear and scripted, yet they deliver bombastic set pieces that make your blood pumping with some really good voice acting and engaging enough story. Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 does not have budget for that. I do not understand how video games like these that takes so much money and effort to make can have such awful script. There is an attempt at cutscenes yet in the cutscenes characters eyes don’t even move.

The saving grace of this game is its environments. The campaign always takes you to interesting locations that parallels the sniper theme of the game. It is always fun to see CryEngine at work despite some of its shortcomings. Still to this day, the game looks fairly pretty. The game also fully commits to the sniper theme. You immediately die if you are detected and not in cover. You always stalk your prey and gotta be patient as you cooperate with your partner. Every aspect of the game is designed around the idea of being an unseen sharpshooter as the title of the game suggests. The game also gives you plenty of opportunities to shoot two guys with one bullet which I truly appreciate.

Quite a nice little game. The bugs and glitches that did rear their head did so because of age, it seems, but they never hindered my progression. Mostly visual bugs and models failing to animate. A stark improvement on the original, SGW 2 seems to still hold up to the test of time, and for the price I would say its worth the three hour story you get from it. I liked playing as a little sniper dude with my compadres, faithfully taking out whomever, whenever they told me to. They were certainly more reliable than my friends in ghost recon: wildlands when it comes to sync shots.

Okay so this is my very first proper review on a game,and although this game is so old that i doubt anyone will actualy read this,I still want to give my thoughts on what I found to be a fairly enjoyable game.I`ll go over the good and the bad,mostly regarding the single player.I feel like the MP is far too basic to be considered a driving force as to what makes this game good or bad.(although the MP was by no means boring,just stale and has little going on) It would be fair to start with the good,but in this case I disagree,I feel like theres enough bugs to scare away quite some people,so I`ll start with that.
