This gets a very tepid recommendation. I played this entire trilogy for the first time over this week, and while I still enjoyed Max Payne 3, this is probably my least favourite of the three.Rockstar have a knack for their attention to detail and focus on cinematic realism, and I don’t feel a lot of that translates well to Max Payne. The shootouts and set pieces look great and Bullet Time is as fun as ever when the situation allows for it, but my biggest issues stem from this game both being a product of streamlining for the modern market and being designed as a console game first and foremost unlike its predecessors.

The environment design of the levels is actually pretty good and varied, but when it ends up just being a glorified hallway it betrays the creativity. The story and character motivations are as predictable as they are nonsensical.  I would even go so far as to say that Max Payne is the best game in the series. Why do I say that? Well to briefly summarize.

The story of Max Payne 3 is simply astonishingly well written. Some have accused it of being a bit too close to the plot of Man on Fire, but to be honest with you I didn’t notice or mind.And you are along for the rideOh and the soundtrack? Simply magical. I find myself returning to the soundtrack often. It is a masterpiece.Incredible game!! This game has a great story, exciting and engaging combat, and a worthwhile ending!! If you are on the fence you wont be disappointed with this purchase!! It is definitely worth the play through!
