In this point-and-click thriller adventure, guide Harvey through the peculiar streets, shops, and surroundings of Villa Ventana as he seeks to prevent his visions from becoming reality. As a fan of classic Sierra and Lucas Arts adventure games, and more recent entries like Thimbleweed Park and Kathy Rain, I found Slender Threads to be a near-perfect addition into the modern point-and-click adventure genre. The designers struck a great balance between humor and darkness — the game never takes itself too seriously, delivering genuine laugh-out-loud moments, yet it carries a darker edge with some real depth to its story. While it definitely follows (and make clever jokes about) point-and-click adventure tropes, Slender Threads carves out it own identity with an original setting and story. It also has some of the best pacing I’ve experienced in a P&C adventure game. The pacing matches the vibe and atmosphere, but also never feels unnecessarily slowed by a particularly annoying puzzle or too-long cut scene.
