Overview Countess In Crimson:

Countess in Crimson follows the story of Josh and Ashley – a young couple stranded somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains who eventually find themselves in a secluded village whose denizens live in the shadow of a menacing castle towering over the landscape. Within the castle resides the titular Countess along with her lustful entourage. As the story unfolds, vicious plots and agendas are revealed while your choices ultimately determine Ashley and Josh’s fate. Gameplay-wise, Countess in Crimson is an interactive visual novel / adventure game hybrid with strong emphasis on dialogue and, of course, steamy and passionate romance. For starters there’s some framerate stuttering issues when trying to run the game in fullscreen mode on higher resolutions. Lowering the resolution just makes everything grainy and fuzzy.

There’s also no UI scaling option which means reading those encyclopedia entries becomes a pain in the ass. And to make an already bad situation worse the game will repeatedly crash because of some DirectX runtime something or other. And on the subject of crashing there’s a particularly nasty glitch that will effectively brick your game if you research all the available technologies. Diplomacy. They made it pretty unique, but… it’s not good. They should have kept the classic Civ5 diplomacy negotiations instead. Diplomatic Capital is kind of okay… But only interacting with other factions via Agreements is boring and not engaging at all. Overall, diplomacy isn’t not absolute sh!t. But it’s weird and sad. At least they tried something new here.
