MotionRec is a recording-based puzzle action game built around the concept of recording and playback. Use this ability to guide Rec, the civilization-recording robot, through a devastated world. You can record the trajectory of your movements, from walking to jumping. Use stage gimmicks to create and record more complex movements to traverse the world. This will let you reach places too high to jump up to, or even access spots where there’s nothing to stand on. You can only play back your movements a certain number of times midair, however, and this is refreshed every time you land on the ground. Make good use of the MotionRec ability to unravel the mysteries behind this devastated world ruled by machines!

A fun, innovative and pretty challenging little puzzle-platformer (with the emphasis on the former). Each screen is built around the central record and playback mechanic, providing space to record the movement that will get you across the second part of the screen when played back. It took a while to get our eyes accustomed to this new form of traversal, but soon it felt almost instinctive as we intuitively parsed each screen, plotting our way across. There’s plenty of space for experimentation; and different solutions to the traversal puzzles. And the generous checkpoints and quick respawns encourage the sense of playful experimentation.
